XMS — BCI & Neurotech RecruitmentBCI and neurotech companies are beginning to hire Indian engineers — for signal processing, embedded firmware, biomedical instrumentation, and neural data ML. This is an early-stage space in India. We are building networks here ahead of the curve, and we are honest about what that means.
There is no large pool of engineers who have spent five years working specifically on brain-computer interfaces in India. The discipline is too new and the number of active BCI companies with India engineering teams is still small.
What does exist — and exists in depth — are the adjacent engineering disciplines that BCI systems are built from. Signal processing engineers who work on EEG, ECG, or other bioelectrical signals. Embedded firmware engineers with RTOS and bare-metal experience on constrained hardware. Analog front-end engineers who design low-noise amplifiers and bioelectronics circuits. ML engineers with time-series and sequence modelling experience. PCB layout engineers with RF and medical device hardware backgrounds.
India has strong pools in all of these areas. The engineering for a BCI system draws heavily on semiconductor, biomedical, and embedded domains where India has real depth. Companies like Neuralink, Synchron, and the wave of neurotech startups looking to build or extend India teams will find the underlying talent here — it just does not come already labelled as "BCI experience."
XMS is building networks in these adjacent pools with BCI hiring in mind. We are not going to tell you we have 200 BCI engineers on speed dial — we will tell you where the relevant talent actually sits and how to reach it.
These are the roles where India has genuine engineering depth that BCI and neurotech companies can draw from.
Engineers with EEG, ECG, EMG, or general biosignal processing experience. Algorithm development for noise filtering, artifact rejection, feature extraction, and real-time signal classification. MATLAB, Python, C for embedded DSP. India has strong DSP engineering communities in both semiconductor and telecom.
Bare-metal and RTOS firmware for low-power, constrained hardware — the kind of environment BCI devices operate in. Device driver development, BLE/wireless communication stacks, power management firmware. C and C++ engineers with actual hardware bring-up experience, not just software firmware.
Engineers with instrumentation, biosensing, or medical device backgrounds. Electrode interface design, signal acquisition circuit design, understanding of biocompatibility constraints. IIT and IISc programs produce biomedical engineers who increasingly go into industry rather than purely academic research.
ML engineers with experience on time-series, sequential data, and physiological signals. Neural decoding, spike sorting, intent classification from neural recordings. Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow. The ML talent pool in India is large; the subset with actual neural data experience is smaller but findable.
Analog engineers who design low-noise amplifiers, instrumentation amplifiers, and analog signal conditioning circuits for bioelectrical signal acquisition. Similar profiles to what semiconductor companies seek for medical-grade analog circuits. Small pool, high demand across multiple industries.
PCB layout engineers with experience on high-density, mixed-signal, or RF boards. Medical device hardware design experience a plus. Altium, Cadence Allegro. Engineers who understand EMI/EMC constraints and can work on miniaturisation challenges relevant to wearable or implantable hardware.
A signal processing engineer in Bangalore with 4 to 6 years of experience costs ₹20L to ₹35L CTC — roughly $24,000 to $42,000 per year. The equivalent profile in the US or UK costs four to five times that. For a startup building out a team, the math is hard to ignore.
The same engineering foundations that build great semiconductor chips, medical devices, and IoT products build great BCI systems. India's engineering depth in DSP, embedded systems, and analog hardware is real and well-established — it predates the BCI boom by decades.
IISc, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and AIIMS have neurotechnology and biomedical engineering research programmes producing graduates with genuine domain knowledge. Some of these researchers are interested in moving into industry, particularly with international companies working on frontier problems.
India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) gives reasonable overlap with US East Coast mornings and significant overlap with European business hours. For engineering teams that need to collaborate with global counterparts, this is workable in a way that some other offshore locations are not.
A BCI startup that wants to test India hiring without incorporating locally can use our EOR service. One engineer, properly employed on Indian contracts with full compliance, within 5 working days of offer acceptance. Scale up or down without the fixed cost of a subsidiary.
The number of BCI and neurotech companies actively hiring in India is still small. Getting in now — before this becomes a competitive talent market — means the best engineers are available and not yet commanding BCI-specific premiums.
The fastest path to hiring an engineer in India for an international BCI company. Our Employer of Record service handles everything — employment contract, PF, ESI, TDS, payroll — and invoices you monthly in your currency. Engineers can start within 5 working days of offer acceptance.
Many BCI hardware roles overlap with semiconductor engineering — analog front-end, embedded firmware, PCB design. Our semiconductor recruitment practice covers these profiles in depth, particularly in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Neural data processing and neural decoding are specialised ML problems. Our AI and ML recruitment practice covers the full range of ML engineering profiles in India, including those with time-series and sequence modelling experience relevant for neural signal work.
Tell us what you are building and what engineering capability you need. We will give you an honest picture of what is available, how long it will take, and what it will cost. No obligation, same day response.
